About Us
Here we are ready to make your visit to our restaurant a great experience. Owners Harry and Sandy are on the far left and second right respectively.
You may ask, "Why have you dubbed Chefs of Tandoori 'Second Innings'? Well, we have come back from the brink after the fire in May of 2011 that shut us down for almost 8 months. Many thought that it was possibly the end of the Chefs of Tandoori. But we fought on and now we are back, better than ever!
And as we know that many of our wonderful customers our great cricket fans, as are we, we have named our second version of the Chefs of Tandoori 'Second Innings' after one of India's, if not world crickets greatest comebacks. Against the might of the awesome Australian Cricket team of 2001 no less. A team that featured the likes of Steve Waugh, Gilchrist, Hayden, Ponting, Warne, McGrath and company that was on a magic streak of 16 test wins in a row.
But the Indians were packed with some great players of their own and they were not going to just sit back and let the Aussie's have it there own way. In a rare game that saw arguably the world's greatest ever player, Sachin Tendulkar actually not contribute with the bat the game was turned into a classic by the quintessential back against the wall agressive batting of V.V.S. Laxman. He, with Dravid (180), kept the Aussie bowling attack of McGrath, Gillespie, Warne, etc... at bay for 422 minutes while compiling a score of 281. Their partnership was worth 376 and ultimately took this amazing game out of the reach of the Australian team and India to victory.
This game will live on as one of India's proudest Cricketing moments and one of crickets mightiest comebacks.
